SNILS (Russia)
Insurance individual account number (SNILS), is a personal number used by the Russian Federation for social security of its citizens. SNILS is given by the Pension Fund of the Russian Federation and it's written down on a green plastic card issued to every employed citizen or foreign national residing in Russia. Although it's not obligatory for unemployed people to have such card, SNILS is widely used and many people apply for it right after birth.
Pension Fund of the Russian Federation SNILS need to organize personal information about the employee and the amounts that lists the employer to an individual retirement account of the employee in respect of future pension.
SNILS contains a number of insurance individual account, which is unique to only one person. An individual's personal account contains all the data on the accrued and paid by the employer insurance contributions throughout their working activity of the citizen, who subsequently taken into account in the appointment or re-calculation of pension. Assigning insurance number is technological in nature and carried out in order to simplify and speed up the procedure for the appointment of pensions insured.
SNILS room used as an identifier on the portal of public services.
The format of the SNILS is "123-456-789 12", where the numbers can be any, and the last two are a checksum.
